Area football roundup: Perry-Lecompton pushes past Santa Fe Trail

Perry-Lecompton needed a strong second half to hold off Santa Fe Trail in a 28-6 road win.

After giving up the first touchdown, the Kaws produced 28 unanswered points over the final three periods to move to 4-1 on the year. Shane Quinlan scored two decisive touchdowns in the third quarter, one of which came on a 52-yard run; the other was a 38-yard pass from Dalton Kellum.

Quinlan finished with 73 rushing yards on four carries. Kellum led the way with 235 yards on 24 attempts. For good measure, Kellum added a 73-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter.

Perry-Lecompton will play host to Jefferson West at 7 p.m. Friday.

Tonganoxie 21, KC Piper 7

Tonganoxie scored a pair of second-half touchdowns to seal a 21-7 home victory over KC Piper.

For the third consecutive week, the Chieftains erased an early deficit to improve to 3-2 on the season. After Piper got on the board in the first quarter, Korbin Riedel notched a 40-yard touchdown run to even the score.

Riedel, who finished with 251 yards on 38 carries, tacked on a 20-yard touchdown run in the third quarter and a 1-yard touchdown score in the final period.

Tonganoxie (3-2) will travel to Spring Hill at 7 p.m. Friday.

Paola 42, Baldwin 0

Baldwin’s offense never got going in a 42-0 road loss to Paola.

The Bulldogs allowed four touchdowns in the first half, including 21 points in the second quarter. Paola added a pair of scores in the second half to complete the lopsided shutout. Baldwin has scored 14 points total in its three losses this season.

Baldwin (2-3) will play host to Bonner Springs at 7 p.m. Friday.

Louisburg 34, Eudora 0

It was a familiar result for the Eudora football team.

The Cardinals struggled on the offensive end, suffering a 34-0 home loss to Louisburg. It marked the second time this season that Eudora has not found the endzone. The Cardinals have scored 19 points through the first five weeks of the season.

Eudora travels to Ottawa (0-5) at 7 p.m. Friday.
