Jayhawks place 6th at Trinity Forest Invitational

A pair of players finished in the top-20 as the University of Kansas golf team concluded the final event of the fall at the Trinity Forest Invitational.

As a team, Kansas shot a 901 (+37) over three rounds and shot a 302 (+14) on Tuesday to close out the tournament, which was good enough to tie for sixth in the 12-team event. Illinois won the tournament with an 872 (+8).

Yi-Tsen Chou secured a 10th place individual finish, shooting a 2-under 70 on Tuesday with five birdies. She finished the tournament firing a 6-over 222, with her third under par round of the season coming on Tuesday.

Senior Chomchana Phuchanbanchob shot a 2-under on the back nine Tuesday with three birdies, finishing with a 6-over 78 on the day, and recorded a three-day total of 224 (+8). The performance was good enough to tie for 16th on the individual leaderboard.

“This week was a great learning opportunity for us since Trinity Forest requires a different kind of golf than most of our team has ever encountered,” head coach Erin O’Neil said in a team release. “We had to adjust our strategy, learn new shots, be creative, and be resilient when things didn’t go our way. In the long run, it will definitely help us be more prepared for postseason in the spring.”
