Jayhawks picked 9th in preseason poll

University of Kansas women’s basketball team has been selected to finish in ninth place as voted on by the Big 12 head coaches, according to an announcement made Thursday by the league.

Baylor, the reigning Big 12 Champion, was selected to finish first in conference action after garnering eight first-place votes and a total of 80 points. Texas, which received two first-place votes, was tabbed to finish second in the league with 72 points.

West Virginia claimed the third spot, tallying 65 points, while TCU received 49 points and was selected in fourth place. Oklahoma (47), Iowa State (44), Oklahoma State (34), Kansas State (29), Kansas (21) and Texas Tech (nine) rounded out the preseason poll.

Kansas begins exhibition play against Fort Hays State on Sunday, Oct. 28, at Allen Fieldhouse.
