Veritas was unable to overcome a sluggish first quarter in the eventual 76-47 loss to Wichita HomeSchool on Saturday.

The Eagles, who have won a pair of state titles in the last two seasons, scored just 7 points in the opening period, facing a 22-7 deficit out of the gate. WAHA scored at least 20 points in each of the first three periods, while the best quarter by Veritas was an 18-point effort in the third period.

Trey Huslig led the way on offense in the loss, scoring 19 points in 34 minutes. Huslig went 7-of-20 from the floor, as he knocked down four triples. Will Rau was the only other Eagle to score in double figures, finishing with 10 points on 3-for-8 shooting.

Veritas (8-3) will return to action in 2019, as it travels to Manhattan HomeSchool on Jan. 4.
