FSHS girls drop 40-36 decision to Liberty

The Free State girls dropped its home matchup with Liberty (Mo.) to fall to 1-1 on the season.

Tied after one quarter, the Firebirds overcame a five point halftime deficit in the third quarter to tie the game, but allowed Liberty to pull away to win by a 40-36 margin. Shannon Clarke, Sam Lawrence and Haley Hippe paced in scoring to net more than half the Firebirds points. Failing to capitalize from the line, Free State shot 2-of-10.

Free State (1-1) faces Blue Valley Southwest in the Olathe East tournament Thursday.
