KU soccer claims 1-1 draw with Oregon

A late second-half goal by Oregon forced No. 18 Kansas soccer to settle for a 1-1 draw Sunday morning inside Hibner Stadium in Lincoln, Neb.

“It’s disappointing,” head coach Mark Francis said in a release. “It still kind of feels like a loss to be honest. We outshot them 19 to five or six or something like that, but we probably left four really good chances out there that we didn’t put away to finish the game off, especially when it was 1-0. If you make it 2-0, it’s a different story. A little bit disappointed in that.”

Senior midfielder Kaycie Young notched her first goal as a Jayhawk in the opening half, though Oregon junior Emma Eddy notched the equalizer with just six minutes left in regulation. With the draw, Kansas moved to 3-0-1 in 2018.

Kansas returns home to Rock Chalk Park for a two-game homestand against Utah on Aug. 31 and Butler on Sept. 2. Both games are slated to begin at 7 p.m.
