Lawrence High senior Trey Quartlebaum didn’t want to worry about his collegiate plans this winter.

Quartlebaum, a guard for the LHS boys basketball team, announced his commitment to play basketball at St. Francis Brooklyn College at the collegiate level. For Quartlebaum, it was important to make this decision before the start of the season.

“It feels good because now I can focus on basketball the rest of the year,” Quartlebaum said Sunday evening. “It’s good, because I don’t have to worry about who is at my games and stuff like that. I can put all my energy into playing basketball and having fun.”

St. Francis Brooklyn College offered Quartlebaum a scholarship during live period in July.

Quartlebaum will begin his senior season on Dec. 1, as Lawrence squares off with Park Hill South at Liberty High School.
