Sound Off: Blanket drop-off

I would like to drop off some old blankets and towels for the Lawrence Humane Society, but I can’t find any of their drop-off boxes. I don’t want to drive all the way out to east Lawrence, so what can I do?

Because of limited funding, the humane society does not have a permanent drop-off area. You can always drop donations off at the Lawrence Humane Society, 1805 E. 19th St.

I thought you could drop items off at PetCo.

But then they would have to drive all the way out to South Lawrence. Harumph!

A couple of years ago I took my extra blankets to a drop box in front of Petco. Is it gone?

I want to help animals but I don't want to drive 10 minutes across town, will animal control pick up blankets?

People act like Lawrence is some large expansive city

My thought exactly. Are they afraid of east Lawrence? I mean all those houses over there are old and they don't all look alike. It's just scary. And, and there's mobile homes near there. ooooohhh.

Oh good grief! Get off your lazy bum and drive to the shelter. They are desperate for blankets right now.

Maybe, just maybe, the person who submitted this question is elderly and limits his or her driving....just sayn'.

They don't say they can't make it to the humane society, they say they don't want to drive to it

I'm well aware of that elliottaw, but having spent a lot with elderly relatives, I can tell you they often don't want to admit they can no longer do something or cannot do it as well or often.

Give them a call and ask them directly: 785-843-6835 There is a volunteer or staff member that goes out to Petco.
