Sound Off: Now that the city has us using the big trash cans, what are we to do with the bundles of tree and bush trimmings, sticks and stuff other than leaves that we used to bind up with twine and leave with our trash? What are we to do with those now?

Tree and brush trimmings, as well as all other vegetative waste resulting from the care and maintenance of landscaped areas, lawns, and gardens are collected curbside on Mondays from March through mid-December (weather permitting, excluding holidays), according to Roger Steinbrock of the Parks and Recreation Department. Residents should set out all yard waste by 6 a.m. Monday in a can, city cart or compostable paper yard waste bag. Bundles of tree and brush trimmings also are accepted. Bundles must not be more than 5 feet or 18 inches in diameter and must not weigh more than 65 pounds. Bundles must be tied with string or twine (no wire, duct tape, etc.).
