Sound Off
Sound Off: Is it anticipated by the city that truck traffic or general traffic on Iowa Street will be reduced once the South Lawrence Trafficway is completed? Do they have estimates of what percentage of reduction will occur?
The section of Iowa south from 23rd Street may see a reduction of truck traffic that will be using the new SLT, said Roger Steinbrock, a marketing supervisor for the city. North of 23rd Street on Iowa will still be a north-south route through town that is part of U.S. Highway 59. The city does not forecast that any changes in traffic on that section of Iowa will change, Steinbrock said.
