Sound Off: Is Barbara Ballard paid by Kansas University and the Legislature or does she take a leave of absence during the legislative session?
Ballard, a Democratic state representative from Lawrence who works as associate director of the Dole Institute of Politics at KU, takes a leave without pay during each year’s legislative session, KU spokesman Jack Martin said. She also doesn’t accumulate any vacation or sick leave while gone for the session, he said.
