Sound Off: Did anyone ever figure out what the low-flying plane over the KU campus in March was?
In short, no. Most witnesses said that the jet looked like a military plane, possibly a F-16 fighter jet. However, who was flying it or what it was doing rattling the windows of Lawrence remain unknown. The Kansas Adjutant General’s office and Kansas University administrators say they have no information about the fly-over or the jet. Sharon Watson, public affairs director at the Kansas Adjutant General’s office, looked into the event calling air force bases as far as Texas. “We have not been able to track down anything about that particular plane,” she said. Watson could only confirm that the plane was not from Kansas. Lawrence Municipal Airport operator Lloyd Hetrick said he had no information about the flight. The FAA would not comment on the incident; it does not comment on military operations.

It's a new recruiting tool that Bill Self came up with. As long as they're in the air it doesn't qualify as an on-campus visit.

It was out of Topeka. Pilot was a KU grad.

Yep! It was without question an F-16. Or an F-15. B-17? P-38 . . . Fokker 70?

Miramar, San Diego. To make Tom Cruise a star so little Katie Holmes could develop a crush on him, then grow up to marry him, then later divorce him.

F-16 -- It flew right over me and Campus West, toward the west, while I was driving on Iowa. No big deal, just a yahoo probably trying to impress a young female hairless plains ape in a dorm on Daisy Hill.

Should be pretty easy to differentiate an F-16 from other fighters. Very unique appearance.

If I remember correctly that was the same day that they brought that terrorist to Ft. Leavenworth. It was all over the news. So security was a major issure. The military said that it never happened. Well we all know it did, I came running out of the building after the first pass and was able to see the second. But our government still said it never happened. Must have been a UFO I guess. I am just a worker bee for the 1 percenters.

Does anybody care?

Well...I would say yes. For over a decade now, we've sort of had a collective fear of low-flying planes. It would be nice to have an explanation.

I have no fear of low-flying planes unless it sounds as though they are experiencing engine trouble. time to live again America.
