Sound Off: Now that the Big 12 only has 10 teams, instead of 12, does that mean that two schools won’t qualify for the conference tournament in basketball?
No, all 10 schools will participate in the single-elimination tournament in both men’s and women’s basketball. The top six schools will receive a bid on the first day, when No. 8 plays No. 9, and No. 7 plays No. 10. On the second day, No. 1 faces the winner of the 8/9 game, No. 2 meets the winner of the 7/10 game, the No. 3 seed plays the No. 6 seed, and the No. 4 seed is matched against the No. 5 seed. Semifinal games are slated for the third day, the title game the fourth. The men’s tournament will take place March 7-10 at the Sprint Center in Kansas City. ESPN will televise the Saturday title game at 5 p.m. The women’s tournament also will be played March 7-10, but Municipal Auditorium will be the site. The title game will be televised by FSN.

What planet are people from who ask these kinds of question? Do they not read a newspaper or ever turn a TV on?

Solution: Rename the conference:
Big Which Ever The Way The Wind Is Blowing This Week Conference
Does not limit the number of teams moving through the revolving doors of the former Big Eight Conference

i agree Louisville and Cincinnati should be added, but after all the trouble Big East has been, the Big 12 should go in and really cherry pick that conference, and grab UConn, Rutgers, or Notre Dame. If they grabbed TCU in transition, maybe they should even make a play for Pitt or Syracuse. If the Big 12 is unwilling to return to its size, let alone keep up with Joneses, the neighboring conferences will be back to cherry pick the Big 12. The best defense is a good offense.

There is a rumor that Pitt and 'Cuse's new ACC home has members not exactly thrilled with the new neighbors and more than interested in jumping to an arena that could compete with the SEC interms of football power. They see the Pitt/Cuse additions as bringing nothing to the table and forcing more decisions through Tobacco Road.
So you have talks of Big 12 going to 16 gaining something like Florida State, VT, BC, Lousiville, BYU, and ND.
Of course like all things, its just talk.
