Why does the city finance department — when it generates the water, trash and sewer bills — put the next day’s date as the billing date and not the date it actually generates the bill?

“The city of Lawrence provides the utility bill information to our printer one day before the bills are to be mailed,” said Megan Gilliland, communications manager for the city. “This provides time for our printer to process the information and mail the bills the next day. Since the due date is based upon the mailing date, it is necessary to provide the bill information at least one day before the billing date so that the due date is correct.”
