Sound off: The course for the Kansas Half Marathon is on my street. When on Sunday will the course be closed to vehicle traffic?
Kim Johnson, event coordinator, said the only street that will be closed during Sunday’s event will be New Hampshire Street between Seventh and 10th streets. She expected the area to be closed from 6:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. The one-mile kids fun run is taking place along the route, and once that is finished, one block will be barricaded between Ninth and 10th streets where the event’s start and finish are taking place along with the after party. Johnson said they will not be closing other streets, but there may be delays as runners make their way through the 5K and half-marathon courses. “Police will control traffic in these areas for the safety of the runners and the vehicles,” she said.
