What is the average number of motorcycle fatalities per year in Douglas County? Where do we stand so far this year?
According to statistics from the Kansas Department of Transportation, 12 fatality accidents in Douglas County involved motorcycles between 2006 and 2010, making the average 2.4 per year. Wednesday’s fatality accident on Iowa Street near University Drive was the first involving a motorcycle in the county this year. It was the sixth fatality accident in Douglas County so far in 2011.

First you say the accident was the 1st in the county then you go on to say its the 6th in douglas county. Which is it?

It was the first fatality involving a motorcycle this year but the sixth fatality accident this year.
