I’ve noticed a lot of positive news about former KU football player Mike Rivera in the paper lately. What do Rivera’s pro prospects look like?
Rivera graduated from KU in 2009 and was signed by the Chicago Bears as a free agent following the 2009 NFL Draft. After being released by the Bears, Rivera caught on with the Tennessee Titans, where he spent the entire 2010 season on the Titans’ practice squad. An injury kept him from making a serious run at a roster spot and, eventually, Rivera was released by Tennessee and picked up by Green Bay. He spent 15 weeks of the 2011 season on the Packers’ practice squad before being acquired by the Miami Dolphins, where he suited up for one game late last season. Rivera is still with the Dolphins and is hoping to make the 53-man roster whenever the NFL lockout is lifted.
