A recent Journal-World story reported a candidate for the Humane Society director was interviewed over drinks and hors d’oeuvres at The Oread. Who paid for that, since the shelter is always in dire need of financial support and looking for money? I’m surprised they didn’t just hold the meetings at the shelter.
The Oread donated the space and refreshments for the reception. No shelter funds were used for the event, said Emily Peterson, president of the society’s board of directors. She thanked the hotel for its donation.
