Who maintains the sprinkler systems on traffic medians in town? On the median that runs south from 24th Place on Inverness, the sixth sprinkler head on the west side is uncapped and has been shooting plumes of water in the air for three weeks.
According to Megan Gilliland, communications director for the city of Lawrence, the adjoining property owner is responsible for the landscape and irrigation per an agreement with the city. Gilliland said that responsibility for sprinkler systems on city medians is handled on a case by case basis.
