In our neighborhood, we have young people selling candy, mostly chocolate bars, on a regular basis, usually on a Saturday. Sometimes they say they are raising money for the Boys and Girls Club. Does the Boys and Girls Club of Lawrence send kids out to do this?
The Boys and Girls Club of Lawrence never sends children out to solicit donations, said Janet Murphy, executive director. Murphy said the agency occasionally hears about this, and she suggests calling the police if anyone encounters such solicitation in their name.
