Why does the Journal-World list ages of people in news stories? What does it possibly add to the story?

“Ages add context to a story, specifically about the subject’s life experience,” says managing editor Dennis Anderson. “Also, using the age can often help the reader avoid confusion because several people in a community can have the same name. The age brings more specificity. “And it’s a natural question asked not only by journalists, but readers as well.”

No names in the the news stories. Now wouldn't that be a interesting newspaper. What kind of a question was that? And why would the Journal World publish such a stupid question?

And who would comment on such a stupid question?
