I noticed the Lawrence Public Library was closed Thursday due to inclement weather. Other city offices didn’t seem to be closed. Could you find out why and if it will be a continuing occurrence?

Bruce Flanders, director of the library, said he and the assistant director of the library made a joint decision to close. The pair looked at other closings around the city, the conditions of the roads and the weather forecast before shutting it down for the day. “It’s very rare for us to be closed an entire day,” he said. Often, he said, the library will close early for the day, and each closing is decided on a case-by-case basis.
