Sound Off

I read the recent DUI series, and the story mentioned that DUIs after 10 years are not counted in your DUI total. Does that mean they’re off your record completely?

DUIs prior to July 1, 2001, are not counted toward the DUI total when someone is charged. So, if you have DUIs prior to 2001, they can’t be used to trigger the stiffer penalties that accompany the third and higher DUI charge. But the DUIs, even prior to 2001, will still remain on someone’s criminal record.
