Is it possible to receive home-delivered meals on an irregular schedule through the Douglas County Senior Services program? Also, is it possible to know in advance what the menus are so one could order favorites, if any?
Kim Wittman, senior meals program manager, said it’s not feasible for DCSS to provide home-delivered meals on an irregular basis. “We prefer to add clients that are in need of the meals five days a week; however, we do understand that there are doctors appointments, etc., that do require the cancellation of a meal.” One option, Wittman said, would be to have someone pick up a meal at one of its five dining center locations. Reservations need to be made 24 hours in advance by calling 842-0543. A donation of $2.75 is suggested for home-delivered meals. Senior Services lists its menus in the monthly 60 & Better newsletter, which is available at the Lawrence Senior Center, 745 Vt., or at its dining center locations. They also are available on its website, dgcoseniorservices.org. For more information, contact Wittman at 842-0543 or kwittman@sunflower.com.
