Sound Off

I noticed that westbound Interstate 70 in Kansas City, Mo., between the Truman Sports Complex west to downtown was reduced to one lane after a recent Kenny Chesney concert. It took about 30 minutes to get from the stadium to downtown. Will it still be one lane for the Kansas City Chiefs first preseason game Friday?

Steve Porter, a senior customer relations specialist for the Missouri Department of Transportation, said a bridge rehabilitation project that restricted the lanes on westbound I-70 concluded and all lanes are now available. He said there should be no restrictions in place for Friday’s preseason game. Several ramp closures involving I-70 and Interstate 435 will be in place into the third week of August, but they are not expected to affect game day traffic. Porter said work does continue on several projects in the I-70 corridor, and occasional lane and ramp restrictions will occur into early September in the downtown loop and into November near the sports complex.
