How much did the city spend in buying materials to accommodate the Kansas Relays shot put event downtown?
Assistant Public Works Director Mark Thiel said the city did not have to purchase any new material for the Relays events. He said Kansas University provided the aggregate and other material needed to build the shot put venue. After the event, the city was allowed to keep the aggregate, which it will use on the Kansas River levee trails. The city did provide a crew of about 20 workers who constructed the venue.
