I remember reading that the city applied for a grant to purchase some electric vehicles. Did it receive the grant?
No. As city staff members were preparing to apply for the grant from the Metropolitan Energy Center and the Kansas City Regional Clean Cities Coalition, they determined that the grant was going to be too restrictive to meet the city’s needs, according to the city manager’s office. The grant only allowed the purchase of specific electric vehicles. The city determined those particular vehicles would not fit the needs of the city, county or Kansas University.
