I see Longwood as a Kansas opponent on the basketball schedule Nov. 12. Is that an exhibition game? Is Longwood a Division II school? Where is it? I’ve never heard of Longwood.

It is not an exhibition game. It’s a nonconference game. Longwood is a state-assisted, co-educational university in Farmville, Va., and was founded in 1839 and changed from a college to a university on July 1, 2002. The school, which has an enrollment of 4,080, became a Division I institution in the fall of 2007. It is one of seven Division I independent schools. The others: Cal State Bakersfield, North Carolina Central, Savannah State, Seattle, SIU-Edwardsville and Winston-Salem. The Longwood Lancers finished 12-19 in 2009-2010.
