Is there someplace in Lawrence one can receive firearms instruction? Does the Lawrence Police Department still offer it?
According to Lawrence Police Sgt. Matt Sarna, “The Lawrence Police Department does not offer any type of firearm courses. The local Hunter’s Safety Program is sponsored by Lawrence Fraternal Order of Police Lodge No. 2, and some of the instructors are current or retired Lawrence police officers. Concealed carry courses are offered through many private avenues and several local instructors are also current or retired law enforcement officers. The Kansas Attorney General’s Office has a list of conceal carry instructors by county on their website,” which is www.ksag.org/page/concealed-carry.

You forgot to mention contact the NRA. They will put you in contact with a member who can provide training in many different aspects of firearm ownership, safety, and marksmanship.
