I heard the state gives our high schools about $300 per every student that enrolls in a career-tech class at our high schools. Is that true? Why aren’t we promoting these programs more?
Yes, school districts receive additional funding for students who enroll in technical- or application-level Career and Technical Education courses during first semester,” said Patrick Kelly, career and technical education specialist for the Lawrence school district. “There is no additional funding for introductory level courses or students who enroll in Career and Technical Education courses during second semester.” The district is in the second year of implementing its Career and Technical Education Communications Plan, which includes materials and activities to promote Career Pathways in schools, Kelly said.
