Why does the KU Store trailer parked next to the football offices have an Illinois license plate? Can’t the KU Athletic Department do business in Kansas?
Jim Marchiony, associate athletics director, said the trailer is owned by Sports Avenue, the company that Kansas Athletics partners with to operate kustore.com. That company has its corporate offices in Rock Island, Ill. Sports Avenue won a 2005 bidding process based on a combination of its financial guarantee and its expertise as a national leader in team-shop development, Internet and retailing and souvenir concessions at the collegiate and professional sports levels, Marchiony said.
