I live in rural Lawrence, and my ballot didn’t ask the question about the library expansion and raising the mill levy on my annual property tax bill. But will my taxes increase to pay for the library?
According to Keith Campbell, deputy of elections for Douglas County, the library proposal was only on the ballot for voters living in the Lawrence city limits. The proposal authorized the city to increase the mill levy only for those living within the city limits.
