I saw a crane outside the Lawrence Public Library on Wednesday. Is the construction project starting already? How long is it supposed to take once they start?

The library expansion project has not started yet. According to assistant director Sherri Turner, the equipment visible outside the library Wednesday was part of the ongoing project to replace the building’s ventilation and air conditioning system. As far as the expansion project goes, the design stage of the process is expected to take anywhere from six to nine months. Once construction begins, the project is expected to take at least a couple years to complete.
