The Lawrence school board had been talking about cutting $5 million and then they approved cuts that only totaled $4.6 million. Why is that?
On March 9, board members approved the $4.6 million in cuts for next school year. Board members decided to approve those cuts and wait to see what happened with the district’s health insurance costs. Board members also acknowledged they might have to consider dipping into a contingency reserve fund for about $400,000 to cover the difference.
