Are the names of every adult living in a house required to be on the mailbox?
To make it easier on carriers and to help ensure the correct mail makes it to addresses, the post office prefers last names of every person living at a residence be written on a card inside the mailbox, said Brad Wertz, a bulk mail technician at the Lawrence post office. Wertz said people can also call the post office, 785-843-1681, to put in a notice to forward mail if one resident moves. If residents do not want any names written on the mailbox, Wertz said they also can call and notify the post office of who lives at the residence or talk with carriers on the route.
