What’s the annual contribution made by the city of Lawrence to the Lawrence Chamber of Commerce?

The city contributes $165,000 per year to the chamber, said Megan Gilliland, a city spokeswoman. The money is used to expand business visits to local merchants, increase participation in networking and trade shows with state agencies, and to develop new economic development marketing materials that specifically target the bioscience sector, she said. An additional $20,000 is budgeted each year to support the Kansas University Small Business Development Center.
