On April 29, two people were fined $140 each for feeding feral cats. What is the ordinance that permits prosecution and sets the fine?

Chapter 3 of the Lawrence City Code deals with the regulation of animals. Fines for feeding feral cats could be issued as violations of Article 3-106 (Animal Nuisances), 3-107 (Removal of Animal Excrement) or 3-202 (Animals Prohibited to Run at Large). The code also establishes fines. These fines are in addition to any applicable court costs or impoundment fees. Fines increase for habitual violations. More about the city code can be found at
