Is the Kansas Historical Society hosting a summer movie festival this year?

Yes, the Kansas Historical Society’s 2010 Sundown Film Festival will begin July 16 with a free showing of “The Muppet Movie.” The free movie festival runs for four consecutive Fridays and features movies with automobile themes to coincide with its special exhibit, “Cars: The Need for Speed.” Other movies are “American Graffiti” on July 23, “Rebel Without a Cause” on July 30 and “Back to the Future” on Aug. 6. Visitors can tour the Kansas Museum of History, 6425 SW Sixth Ave., Topeka, at a special $2 rate from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on festival nights. For more information, call 785-272-8681.
