Is there any ongoing work planned to get rid of the invasive species like crown vetch and other plants on Sanders Mound at Clinton Lake? I visited a week ago and it seemed like so many of the native prairie flowers weren’t coming back.

Clinton and Hillsdale Lakes Park Manager Dave Rhoades said his crew has been trying to control the crown vetch in the area by using controlled burns since late spring. Next year, the crew will start the controlled burns later in the spring, which should have more impact on getting rid of the crown vetch. This process will continue for the next few years. As for other invasive species, such as musk thistle, Rhoades said his crews will continue to pull them by hand.
