Has any men’s basketball team in recent history gone undefeated for the season and then won the NCAA Championship? If not, what was the best record?

Indiana (32-0 in 1976) is the last undefeated national champion. Since then, six teams have finished with two losses, most recently University of Connecticut (34-2 in 1999). Kansas (37-3 in 2008) had the fewest losses of any national champion in the first decade of the 21st century.
