What happens if someone received a ticket for not removing the snow from their sidewalk and they still don’t remove it?
The city code states each day of a continuing violation shall be deemed a separate offense; therefore, a property owner is subject to being cited each day after the initial complaint is received, said Megan Gilliland, the city’s communications coordinator. City code enforcement staff would need to re-inspect the property after the initial violation and cite the property in question again to incur additional daily fines. Once cited, a property owner may pay the fine in full or have the case heard in municipal court. To report code violations, contact 832-7700 or submit violations online at lawrenceks.org/pds/code_violation.
