Do the city and county have an expected salary for the new sustainability coordinator position they have created?
City and county commissioners were told months ago the salary would be about $60,000 per year. According to an advertisement for the position on the Douglas County government Web site, the salary is to be negotiated in the $60,000 range. The city and county agreed in 2009 to split funding for the position. The city would use stimulus funds to pay for the first $100,000 worth of costs related to the program. The new employee will be responsible for helping the city and county figure out how to save energy, reduce the community’s carbon footprint and look at green issues like locally produced foods.
