I noticed the Journal-World sent three sports writers and I’m not sure how many photographers to the KU-Temple basketball game. Who pays for these trips? Do they ride with the team on the plane?

The Journal-World pays all travel expenses for its staffers who cover Kansas University road games, including airfare, car rental, hotels and food. The team typically covering regular season basketball games includes sports editor Tom Keegan, associate sports editor Gary Bedore, KUSports.com Editor Jesse Newell and a photographer. The number of staff covering KU increases for NCAA Tournament or football bowl games. The Journal-World books its own travel and does not accompany the team on trips. The Journal-World is not charged for press passes for those journalists who cover games.
