Is the ordinance allowing chickens to be raised in Lawrence just for eggs or does it also include slaughtering?
According to Megan Gilliland, communications manager for the city of Lawrence, “The city code does not permit the willful killing of animals within city limit. There are exceptions in the ordinance for some activities, but butchering animals for food is not one of the excepted activities.”

Cant even kill a chicken to eat what is this town coming to. If their not doing it in the front yard whats wrong with it.
