Does the same sidewalk rule apply for branches and limbs as it does for snow? I almost broke my leg last night walking my dog. The branches and limbs are still there today.

City code requires property owners to keep sidewalks clear and free of debris, according to Megan Gilliland, communications manager for the city of Lawrence. Any trees overhanging the sidewalk or right of way should be trimmed to a height of at least 8 feet above the sidewalk or street. To report a code violation, visit www.lawrenceks.org/pds/code_violation or call 832-7700.
