Is it true KU football coach Turner Gill played professional baseball?
Yes. Former University of Nebraska football quarterback Gill, who hit .284 in 48 games for the Cornhuskers’ baseball team during the 1983 season, was signed by the Cleveland Indians in May 1986. He spent two years in the Indians’ organization and a third in the Detroit Tigers’ farm system before deciding to return to football as a coach. A shortstop, Gill had been drafted by Chicago’s White Sox at age 17 and again by the New York Yankees at 21.
