Do county treasurers in Kansas start their terms in office at a different time from other elected county officials?
Yes, according to law, the county treasurer’s term in office coincides with the county tax year. Douglas County Treasurer Paula Gilchrist, who was re-elected in November, will take the oath of office for her second term on Oct. 7. All other county officials voters elected last November took office in January.
