What assurances are there that electronic devices recycled in Lawrence aren’t going to China? “60 Minutes” recently showed that many companies sending electronics to China were recycling them without protective care and were causing fatal illness and pollution.

Electronics can be recycled during a city recycling event Oct. 31 at Free State High School. The recycling will be done by Extreme Recycling Inc., a company that says it doesn’t export its materials overseas, according to the Lawrence city Web site. The event will be from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. in the parking lot of the school, 4700 Overland Drive. If recycling electronics elsewhere, you should check with the vendor about its export policy.
