Why wasn’t the yard waste picked up last Monday?
Yard waste was picked up on Monday, said Megan Gilliland, a city spokeswoman. She said the city picks up yard trimmings, including grass, leaves and small woody debris, every Monday between March and mid-December, unless the weather’s bad or it’s a holiday. To be collected, the city said residents must put the items at the curb of their home by 6 a.m. and they must be placed in carts, cans or paper yard waste bags that are compostable. “Yard trimmings set out in plastic bags or bundles will not be picked up,” Gilliland said. “Please place material in proper containers.” Questions and problems should be directed to the city’s solid waste division at 832-3032.
