Since the Lawrence-Douglas County Health Department is holding swine flu clinics in Eudora and Baldwin City, why aren’t they holding one in Lecompton?
Health department Director Dan Partridge said, “While we have not ruled out a future H1N1 clinic at Lecompton, the health department’s initial strategy has been to vaccinate as many people as possible as quickly and efficiently as possible. We are working to achieve this goal within the framework of a reduced vaccine supply and vaccinating those in the priority groups, particularly focusing on children and pregnant women, first. “The Lecompton community will have a school-based clinic for its student population. However, when we look at the other priority groups at this time, we do not project enough demand to justify a clinic in Lecompton. This may change once vaccine availability is opened up to the general public.”
